Emily Westaby is our Director of Marketing and Business Development.

Discovering and sharing the best of a destination is at the heart of why she does what she does. She first stamped her passport in Venice on her eighteenth birthday and hasn't stopped exploring since, spending a year teaching ballet in Berlin and soon after heading to Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, Munich and Cologne.

A few years later she joined Ovation Travel Group for the adventure of a lifetime: running leisure marketing and business development for the 5th largest travel management company in the United States. A large part of this is her involvement in turning Artisanal Experiences' experimental, adventurous ideas into a reality.

Languages, local comfort food, luxury hotels and history are her passion points. You’ll often find her at an airport gate juggling her toddler and hopping a flight last-minute to join her husband, a pilot, for a quick jaunt somewhere new with a few site inspections along the way. Recent favorites include the Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, France, Greece, Italy, Monaco, Spain and Los Cabos, Punta Mita and Riviera Maya in Mexico.

Multitasking has never been better.

What's in my bag? My carry-on plane essentials:

Traveling with toddler: A Cares® Kids Fly Safe Airplane Safety Harness, a baby carrier like our Tula Navigator, Kolcraft stroller (lightweight, holds enough stuff, but doesn't cost so much that we will be upset if it gets broken when checked), tiny books, coloring books, stickers, crayons, noise cancelling/protective headphones, non-messy snacks (honey pretzel sticks, cut fruit, cheese), PJs, all packed In a backpack (because I need my hands free), Honest hand sanitizer, approximately one million baby wipes (no need for stain wipes or Purell wipes - baby wipes work better than anything!), baby Tylenol (not easy to find on the go for fevers or teething.)

Traveling without kids: Magazines! Laptop, Bose headphones, self-packed amenity kit for overnight flights with my favorite spa samples to remind me to take care of my skin, PJs for overnight flights, protein bars (travel makes me hungry), Emergen-C, every type of travel-sized medication, just in case.

At the moment...

Favorite food while traveling: Everywhere I go, I order chicken soup from in-room dining. It keeps me healthy, and I love to see each hotel's take on a classic.

I am super excited about: The newly redone Laucala, which is a private island in Fiji owned by Red Bull. And they have a submarine.

Destination I can go back to again and again: Mexico - Los Cabos especially. Mexican hospitality is some of the most underrated in the world. The sound of the Pacific waves in Cabo puts the whole family in instant chill-out mode. We've been all over, but we keep coming back to our neighbors to the south.

On my bucket list: Australia and New Zealand when our daughter is old enough for a little more adventure.

Favorite thing while traveling: When it's with our daughter, I love seeing each place through her eyes - moving at a toddler's pace, you have a new appreciation for details. When I'm kid-free, I am a huge in-flight geek. I love settling in for a long flight and the ritual of the meals and service until you land. I get caught up on work, or caught up on movies - either way, it's my time to make the world smaller before it gets big and distracting again.
